A split human race fights for its existence, and for unity. The Simes survive month to month on selyn, the life force of the Gens, resulting in the Gen's death. The Gens produce the selyn the Simes need, and fear the Simes' deadly touch. Two sides of humanity who each deny the humanity of the other. The Simes, who regard Gens as nothing more than cattle, to breed and raise for their Selyn. To be Killed. The Gens who regard Simes as evil monsters in human form with tentacles that strip the life from any Gen they touch. Creatures who hunt and Kill humans.

Since the end of civilization Simes have hunted and drained Gens of
their life, and Gens have feared Simes and destroyed those they could.
Sime raiders hunted in Gen territory for "wild Gens," while Gen patrols
have fought to protect their borders from these raiders. Any children in Gen Territory who become Sime at puberty are destroyed, murdered by those who loved them. Any children in Sime Territory who become Gen at puberty are Killed by those who had once loved them, or are sold for the Kill or to a Gen farm. This is how it has been for a thousand years - since the first mutations and the fall of civilization. Fear, hate, suspicion, war and death have become the normal way of life for mankind. Now a sub-mutation appears on the scene. "Channels" and "Companions". The Channels are Simes who can take Selyn from any Gen without Killing them and give Selyn to another Sime who cannot control the instincts that make them Kill. The Companions are Gens who can serve the Channel's private need for Selyn without being Killed. These Channels and Companions are rare, and hated and feared by those on both sides of the border. They are considered perverts by the Sime communities and soul stealing demons by the Gen communities. However, they are the only chance Humanity has of survival. Are the Channels and Companions enough to bring the human race back together? |
